"YEAH!" I scream, then get up and bolt out of the food court.

I close my book with a slam. "Honestly, I can't get any reading done here with Amaril constantly spazzing out like... like she just did!" I storm off through the hole in the wall with a huff.

I run off after Amaril to find Cactus.

I walked in, and looked behind me to make sure Cactus and the others were following. I nodded in approval then sat in one of the cushioned chairs

I froze when I saw the girl and her friends. This was the moment I'd been waiting for, but I had to hold back. If I strike at the wrong time, I could lose her again.

I walk in and sit next to Cactus. "I'm sorry I didn't go with you to find Cactus," I say to Kayla, sighing. "I just froze up." I pause. "But... what was it you..." I cough. "Were going to tell me?"

I sit down, limping, next to Kayla, then hear Amaril's words. "Oh, I think I'll.... uh, go get some chinese food for everyone or something...." The shops are opening now. "COME ON, CACTUS..." Better leave them to break the news.

"No, no um you should stay." I quickly grab Dylan's sleeve and make him sit down. "Ur....you can say it while I, go curl up in that corner." I stand up and motion for him to say.

"Who says you have more money?" I demand, pulling him down onto the chair and again, standing up.

Hmm. Why were all teenagers so weird? I continued watching them stand up and sit down stand up and sit down over and over. I wanted the girl to go off somewhere alone.

"Listen," I say, pushing her down and standing up again. "You REALLY need to talk with Amaril about... stuff. Plus, didn't that Harpy WANT you alone?" I point out logically.

I glare at him. "Well, not in the mall! I mean, why don't we just you know, calm down a little after what happened last night." I jabbed him in the chest and stood up.

"I know she does," I snap at him. "What is it?" I stand up and ask Kayla.

I hold my breath, grab Amaril's hand and take her around an empty corner. "Uh....." I say awkwardly. "Well, you know how people change when they've been apart for a while?" I begin, but it sounds really stupid.

Drat. They were out of sight and earshot. I didn't want to look like I was nosing around, so I took a seat on a table at the farthest end of the Food Court and listened intently.

"Uh, yeah. I've become far more troublesome, havok-wreaking and all around evil since you moved away," I said brightly. "Also I made a new friend because I threw a rock in her window. And then I destroyed half the city." I pause. "What are you getting to?"

I nod my head to the beat that plays in my mind and break dance on the table.

To be honest, I didn't know where I was trying to go. "Um....it's like this...." I looked her in the eyes seriously, held up my hands helplessly and smiled broadly. I figured that would be easier than talking.

Huh, this wasn't revealing much information to me. I leaned on my chair closer and almost fell over, but quickly recovered myself.

I cry, panting hard. "Wha- wha- wha- What happened?" I ask, but I know. Or at least I think I do. I don't want to admit it but I have to. "You... you're..."

I hear Amaril yelling. "I think she took it well," I say, satisfied.

I can't believe it. I think I know someone and then it just changes. Like Claudia. She's all but abandoned me. Stella too. Well that's because I left her as a pair of handcuffs with only Sandy and thought it would work out. I guess it didn't because then she pretty much got her arm cut off. But I digress.

"How'd it go?" I ask seriously to Kayla.

I nudge him with my elbow and my eyes mist up. "I think you know by all that screaming." I turn around and walk away with my arms folded.

I stood up and walked over to the spot where I heard all that screaming, and see a girl standing there. She was alive, and looked well. Or as well as she could be encountering that...that...thing. "Hello," I say to her gently.

"I overheard a lot of screaming and came to make sure you were okay. Who the heck was that, and why were you screaming?" Maybe I could get this girl on my side.

I walk hurriedly through the milling people, who all seemed so normal and happy. I can't believe the way Amaril reacted. I mean, what could I expect? I couldn't expect to have friends once people knew who I was. I should just, abandon these people now and go back to the life I was leading.
