Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
I fall from the sky as a streamlined firey blur, whizzing past the clouds, then the treetops, and then past the edge of the cliff. I realize that I'm nearing the rocks, so, alarmed, I hastily stretch my folded in wings. They halt my flight and jerk me around in the air. It felt like a speedy racecar stopping suddenly, throwing the driver around in his chair, except for me, there was no chair. Oh, also, there was no seatbelt. I veer to the left and hear a sickening SNAP! in my right wing. My beak points further downward as I go into a spiral. SNAP! There goes my other wing. My wings flop uselessly and grotesquely on either side of me, so I close my eyes to avoid my horriffic state, but it's too late. The image has already engraven itself on my mind. It only clears once I feel a tingling sensation starting at my beak and travelling across my skin. It's warm, and I normally like warm, but it's... Uncomfortable. It makes me want to get away from the heat, away from whatever is causing this sensation, which is weird. The warmth actually starts to hurt, which warm things never do. It felt... Hot? I've never felt hot, fire usually feels good and refreshing.
I dare open my eyes and a blinding light rushes out at me and forces me to blink. It's me. I'm a fireball, blazing like the sun, charring the rocks, dirt, and moss on the sides of the cliff even though the sides are about thirty feet away from me. Why am I so hot?
I look down, remembering that I can't fall forever. I try to swerve up and out of the cliff, but my wings won't respond. I didn't think they would. I can't even feel them. All I feel is burning. My own flames are baking me alive. The rocks at the bottom approach me. I open beak and exhale a burst of flame bigger than the fireball I am now, then my world slowly dissolves into a million tiny pieces and goes black.

I stroll along the bottom of the canyon, whistling, crawling over rocks and occasionally sipping water from my water bottle. It began to get very hot very quickly. I look up only to find the sky being reddened by a large fireball with a black tip. I'm lucky I'm not closer, or else I would be roasted. I rush away, but trip and scrape my knee. My warm blood runs down my leg and stains my white sock. As I tend to my wound, the heat stops.
I slowly open my eyeballs and blink the dust out of them. I'm perched on a flat rock much bigger than I am. I run my beak through my soft wings, which are covered in a coating of black ash. I blink my eyes again. I like blinking. It's the first thing I ever did. The second thing I ever did was probably clean my feathers. I clean my feathers a second time. Cleaning and blinking and cleaning and blinking. It's so fun! Actually, I kind of wish I had memories of things other than cleaning and blinking and memories of wishing for memories. I hop around the ash-covered rock, but stumble and fall onto another flat grey rock. I get up and look around. "I have to remember this place," I whisper to myself, "because it's where I was born just now."

I rush down the canyon and come across a cute baby phoenix on an ashy rock.
I decide I need a name. "Excuse me, but what's my name?"
This poor phoenix probably hit the ground too hard. This could be fun. As for her memory, Baby Phoenix-- Wait, Magic Bananas-- Will remember her real name sooner or later. "Your name is Magic Bananas," I swiftly reply, grinning wickedly.
I don't know what magic bananas are, but the name sounds pretty. "Ok, thank you nice lady," I peep. I contently continue poking my beak through my feathers and cleaing the ash out.
Why isn't this phoenix angry, or objecting, or at least saying no? I immediately realize what I had done and the blood drains from my face. Giant fireball, ashes all around, baby bird, those are all the signs. This phoenix must have been born from the ashes of a dead phoenix, and I had just given it its name FOR LIFE! It probably doesn't even know what a banana is! I shapeshift into a dragon as fast as I can and soar away.

OOC: Wow, Mystic, Amber sure had a violent death.... Creepy...
Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
What a nice person, I think, running my beak through my downy-soft feathers once more. Maybe someday I'll stop cleaning my feathers and get off this rock. Maybe not.
Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
This is a nice rock, but rocks can get boring sometimes, as I have just learned just now. I open my pristine wings and attempt to soar away on a sharp updraft, but instead tumble down on my head and accidentally let out a whine. I decide I like whining because it is very fun and so I continue whining, this time much more loudly.
Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
I stand about ten feet away. There was a little phoenix over there, whining. It was getting annoying, acting like it enjoyed being whiney. I sighed, saying, "Please stop. Why don't you tell me why you are alone here? What is your name?"

Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
I finally make it to the bottom of the cliff, and i notice two birds, a baby phoenix and.....one i've never seen before.
Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
I turn around upon hearing footsteps. My eyes fall on a white wolf watching me. I back away from both the phoenix and the wolf, becoming worried. My razor feathers bristle uncomfortably, and I imagined myself as the biggest, most colorful porcupine ever. I knew it wasn't nearly as bad as that, but under the circumstances I was feeling vulnerable. As usual.

I look around. Nothing really exciting going on. So i flopped on the ground like a dead fish.
Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
The baby phoenix still hadn't responded, and the wolf seemed totally disinterested. I left.

I get up and notice there's only the baby phoenix left. I get up and bound back the way i came.
Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
I continued whining even after the big scary bird left. He was so scary, I couldn't think of anything to say to him. Did I mention he looked scary? Well, he looked really, REALLY scary.
While reflecting my experience with a scary guy, I noticed a fuzzy person crying. I stopped whining long enough to squirm over and give her a comforting lick.

Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
I look up and sigh. I have no idea why i started sobbing in the first place anymore....
Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
This person was really really boring, so I flop onto my back in an effort to entertain myself.
Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
I make a futile attempt to poke back, but my legs flail aimlessly, so I begin whining once again.
Re: The Sharp, Scary Rocks That Are At The Bottom Of The Cliff
I land softly twenty feet away. The little thing was still whining. How obnoxious. It looked cute at this point, though, as it seemed to have a friend. I watched, mildly amused.
OOC: a) who would have thought that the color I'm using is auburn?
b) since when can phoenixes lick?

I prod the phoenix hoping to make it stop whining. No such luck. But, she is kinda cute.
