The local park

I end up at the park, on a bench sheltered by a giant weeping willow tree. I can hear nymphs and pixies snickering above me, but I could care less. I pick up a newspaper sitting next to me and pretend to read it, not caring about the latest battle in the sky arena.

Out of the corner of my eye I spot someone walking over, and I slam my face into the newspaper and start using a fake british voice. "I'M JUST AN OLD LADY! Conversations BORE ME! And they'll BORE YOU!" I tried to walk away but slammed into a tree. "TEE HEE, JUST AN OLD LADY!"

"XYLIA!" I pry the newspaper off of my face where a welt is forming on my forehead. "You won't believe what happened today." I raise my eyebrows. "Seriously. It's an interesting storyline of lives tangled together with unlikely meetings, broken friendships with devious plans, fast, heart-pounding pursuits, some serious mood swings, and window shopping. You wouldn't believe it."

I circle over the sky like a giant golden vulture. "Hmm," I narrow my eyes.

"Okay. So I found this human's house in the woods and threw a rock at the window. And some person with anger issues started to chase me, and I ran into the museum, and she FOUND me, and I had made Sandy take care of Stella who for unknown reasons is stuck as a pair of handcuffs, and so HE'S hunting me, and she had to get a new house, and we were roomates, but I Sandy crashed through the roof and she ran away like a ninja, and so I'm hiding here from both of them at teh same time."

I land. "Just another show of my bravery," I huff dramatically.

I sighed and rolled off Zeus. His wild flight left my stomach churning.

"Whoa," I said. That's the first time I've ridden in a dragon's claws. And while they were small they were incredibly strong.

I groan, slightly amused and hop off Zeus. It's not hard becuase he's small. I can't help but wonder if he really would make a deal with Dr. Doom to get bigger?

I also land and flap out my feathers.
I stand up. "That was TOTALLY WICKED!" I scream. "You're awesome, uh..... um...." I look at the small dragon. "Who are you again?"

I flick my head dramatically. "I'm Zeus, the Golden Dragon," My soft ridges flick with the motion of my head, they kind of look like hair.

I groan at Zeus. He sure was self centered.

"I wonder what ever became of Dr. Doom," I said, thinking aloud again.

I shrug. "Who knows. He still has full magic powers. Last tiem I ever try getting a new power from him. You know," I joke to Zeus, "He could make you taller."

"R-ight. I'm Kristy," I smile, then pull out my book and sit down and read.

I groan at Zeus. He is SO annoying.

My eyes lit up. "He could?"

I jump up "NO NO no" But I stumbled backwards because I was still feeling sick.

I growl. "Don't see Dr. Doom. He shrunk these two to six inches tall, then made them deaf."

"Well, yeah, he could," I tell Zeus.

"Amaril," I rise warily, glaring at her, my longbow in my hands.

I note the longbow. It would be wise to stay away from that. "Well, as long as that dragon Sandy doesn't call me short." I say, then I add with a grin, "Or else I'll call him old," That should motivate them to keep Sandy under control

I relax my haunches, but still glared at Amaril and Zeus warily. Any minute, I knew, he could take off. And he's got blinding speed.

"What?" I shrug. "He's very effective. You know, when he doesn't... make you evil, or make you so big you could eat the world, or... something. He's cheap, too. Sandy wouldn't call you short then," I say. I lean to Claudia. "If you haven't noticed by now," I mutter to her, "A dragon's willpower is really strong. We could get him to take us right to Dr. Doom."

"Longbows are good," I say thoughtfully, "But I prefer swords... more... effective for those who aren't ninjas like you, Claudia." I turn my new golden sword over in my hands.

I catch bits and peices of the conversations. "I would like to meet this Dr. Doom," I say over the top of my fantasy romance novel. "He seems like a classic villan!"

I smile, but then it fades when this elf says she wants to meet Dr. Doom. "No, no no NO NO!" I said, swinging around my longbow. It almost hits everyone, as the bow itself is almost as tall as me.

I looked down at the longbow again, this did not seem like the girl to tangle with. "Well, I'm not sure,"

I fall over as Claudia's longbow whacks me upside the head. "Ow!" I said.

Luckly I'm sitting down. "You said you wanted to find him," I point out.

"Not neccessarily anymore, but it would be nice to see what he's up to. Maybe Zeus can find something to help him," I tell Claudia.

"Ugh. He creeps me out," I shiver.

I glared at Amaril, my dark eyes burned through her. I perched an arm on my longbow tip, spinning the other end into the ground. "I don't want to risk anything more happening," I glared at her, remembering what I had told her on the island.

I shuffled awkwardly. "Ahem, I'm right here," I say. "I'm not invisible, CLEARLY" I tossed my head again and my spines flopped around.

I rubbed my head with a paw. "That bow weighs like a million pounds!" I say. And that was saying something, since Claudia wasn't so strong to start with.

"No one will be there," I say, still ignoring Zeus. "You don't need to worry. Just... chill out with the longbow." Really, I wanted some adventure again. Being six inches tall made everything more... difficult. Fun.

I glance at Zeus. "I can see you, if it helps," I shrug.

I sit down, feeling ignored and start singing softly. "What a lovely bunch of stalker pineapples, deedeeleedee, there they are all standing in rows..."

I cough. "No one was there when we got shrunk," I pointed out.

I looked around, then grabbed Amaril and Claudia and took off for the sky hospital.

I yelped as the two were suddenly whisked in the air. One of the arrows clattered down on the ground next to me and I jumped.

I screamed as I was suddenly lifted in the air.
